Andrea is a Ph.D. Fellow in Economics and Policy Studies of Technical Change. 

She studied at the University of Chile, a Master of International Studies and a Bachelor degree in Economics. Before joining UNU-MERIT, she worked at the IMF’s Western Hemisphere Department, where she joined the North-American Division and later the Regional Studies one. There, she worked as a Research Officer providing data development and economic research. Previous work experience includes the Infrastructure and Natural Resources Division, and the Production, Productivity, and Management Division at ECLAC-UN; the Statistics Department of the Chilean Central Bank; the Curriculum Division of the Chilean Education Ministry; and Research Assistant and T.A. at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Chile. Her fields of interest are socioeconomic inequality; innovation economics, and their implications for public policy design with focus on generational differences; data development; and formal modeling.
