Prof. Ronald Skeldon is a Professorial Fellow in the Department of Geography at the School of Global Studies at the University of Sussex.  

Prof. Ronald Skeldon holds a Professorship in Human Geography at UNU-MERIT.  In addition to this Prof. Ronald Skeldon works as a consultant to international organizations, including the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations Population Division (UNDP), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the International Labour Organization (ILO), the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Social Science Research Council (SSRC) in New York.

Prof. Ronald Skeldon completed his BSc (Hons) in Geography at the University of Glasgow. After taking his MA in Geography at the University of Toronto he completed his PhD in 1974 with a dissertation on Migration in a Peasant Society: the Example of Cuzco, Peru.  

Prof. Ronald Skeldon expertise is largely in the following research areas: population and development; migration and development; linkages between internal and international migration, skilled migration, circular migration, populations of East and Southeast Asia and the Andean region of South America. His latest research and publications focused on circular migration, the impact of the financial crisis and migration and climate change.
