Prof. Zahra Kalantari is an environmental engineering and sustainability researcher whose work integrates climate science, urban systems analysis, and geospatial analysis to advance climate mitigation, adaptation, resilience, and livability in cities.
At UNU-INWEH, Prof. Kalantari examines how nature-based solutions can be embedded in climate policy, urban planning, public health, and socio-economic development, while using spatial prioritisation, artificial intelligence, geospatial analysis, and digital twins to improve the design, targeting, monitoring, and performance assessment of urban climate solutions.
Prof. Kalantari is a Professor of Environmental Engineering for Sustainability in the Anthropocene at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden and Director of the KTH WaterCentre. She holds a PhD in Land and Water Resources Engineering from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology and MSc in Water Resources and Environment from Lund University.
