Tariro Mbiba is a legal and policy professional with expertise in environmental law and justice, human rights, and sustainable development.
With a strong background in policymaking, governance, and research, she has worked extensively with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and consulted for NGOs and corporates on development initiatives. Tariro has supported the development of environmental policies and strategies aligned with global sustainability goals, UN conventions, gender equity, and justice, while bridging the science-policy gap to enhance impact, particularly in Africa.
At UNU-INWEH, Tariro conducts research addressing critical global challenges in water, environment, and health. Her work is dedicated to advancing environmental law and justice, with a particular emphasis on fostering sustainable solutions across Africa and the Middle East. She also explores new research and partnership opportunities, driving innovation and collaboration in the fields of environmental policy, law, and justice.
Tariro holds an Advanced LLM in European and International Human Rights Law from Universiteit Leiden and a Bachelor of Laws from Rhodes University.
