Dr. Rolf Larsson is a water resources researcher with a diverse background spanning computational fluid dynamics (CFD), snow hydrology, urban hydrology, and urban flood management.
He is the Executive Director of the United Nations University (UNU) Hub on Water in a Changing Environment (WICE) at Lund University, where he leads the coordination of the Hub’s activities and contributes to multiple research clusters and capacity-building initiatives.
Currently a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in the Division of Water Resources Engineering at Lund University, Dr. Larsson has held several leadership roles at Lund University, including, Head of the Department of Building and Environmental Engineering, Chairman of the Board for the Environmental Engineering Programme, and Coordinator of the International Master’s Programme in Water Resources Engineering.
Dr. Larsson is also the coordinator of WATERAGRI, a major EU-funded Horizon 2020 research and innovation project involving 23 partners and has previously coordinated the project SUrF – Sustainable Urban Flood Management. In addition, he is a member of the X-band radar research group at Lund University, working on advanced hydrometeorological monitoring technologies.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to water research and management, Dr. Larsson he was awarded the Swedish Water Prize in 2025.
