MIchelle Velasco's work connects science, policy, and communities, amplifying voices from the Global South and promoting environmental justice.
She is an economist with a background in finance and has been working on socioeconomic integration, climate resilience, and inclusive development.
She currently serves as the Communication and Outreach Coordinator of the Global Lab for Environmental Intelligence of UNU-INWEH, implementing the Lab's communication strategies to raise awareness around environmental security, justice, and sustainability around the world through the active use of sattilite and remote sensing information.
Ms. Velasco has a Master's in Social and Solidarity Economy from Université Lumière Lyon 2. Her professional background includes positions with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD), and the International Trade Centre (ITC).
