Paula Morgado currently serves as Project Coordinator at UNU-IIGH.
Paula Morgado is an anthropologist specializing in Critical Medical Anthropology and Global Health, holding a PhD in African Studies and certified training in Implementation Research and Community Engagement. Since 2010, she has conducted and managed research projects in global health, focusing primarily on West and North Africa. Her work employs decolonial and intersectional approaches to enhance health systems performance, promote equitable health governance, and improve the quality and equity of healthcare delivery.
In addition to her primary research focus, Paula Morgado has addressed themes related to gender and Islam, gender and migration, and gender and peace building. During her doctoral studies, she researched female migrants' access to sexual and reproductive health services in the Republic of Niger. She has extensive experience in fieldwork, stakeholder mapping and engagement, and facilitating consensus among policymakers, civil society, and communities.
Her expertise includes evaluating sexual, reproductive, maternal, and neonatal, child, and adolescent health services, as well as project management, resource mobilization, team coordination, capacity building, and knowledge translation.
