This project aims to enhance the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) in the Town of Luang Prabang World Heritage Site in Lao PDR using information and communications technology (ICT). Its three primary objectives are:

  • to promote Luang Prabang’s ICH by developing a publicly available ICH database;
  • to facilitate youth’s active engagement in the ICH safeguarding process using digital technology; and
  • to strengthen educators’ capacity and roles in integrating ICT-enhanced ICH knowledge in teaching practices.

Results of this project are expected to contribute to SDG localization in Luang Prabang by strengthening the community’s heritage safeguarding through awareness raising (SDG 11.4), promoting sustainable tourism through a collective effort between current and future artisans (SDG 8.9), and enhancing educators’ capacities to facilitate ICH safeguarding (SDG 4.7).
