Policy Forum Article Examines India’s Climate Ambitions

The opinion piece by UNU-IAS expert Ahmad Khalid discussed India’s climate targets.

On 19 September 2022, Policy Forum featured an opinion piece by Ahmad Khalid (JSPS–UNU Postdoctoral Fellow, UNU-IAS) focusing on India’s climate targets as outlined in the country’s updated Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC). Policy Forum is an online platform for public policy debate and analysis managed by the Asia and the Pacific Policy Society (APPS).

Excerpt:

India’s updated NDC is not perfect, but this is not the whole story. To achieve stricter climate targets, India doesn’t just need more ‘ambition’. It needs international financial and technological support. Most of its existing climate actions have largely been financed domestically.

The full article is available on the Policy Forum website and has been republished on Our World, the UNU web magazine.
