The Eighth Japan Youth Environmental Activity Contest was featured in special print editions of the Yomiuri SDGs Newspaper (March 2023) and Chukosei Newspaper (March 2023). The contest aims to empower youth from across Japan to lead the way towards a sustainable society, and is co-organised by UNU-IAS, Ministry of the Environment of Japan, and the Environmental Restoration and Conservation Agency, Japan. A group of students from Kumamoto Agricultural High School received the UNU-IAS Director’s Award for their initiative focused on reducing emissions in pork production. The article in the Yomiuri Shimbun included comments by Shinobu Yume Yamaguchi (Director, UNU-IAS).
