During 6–18 November 2022, UNU-IAS will be contributing to expert discussions at the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.
UNU-IAS will organise three side events and a press conference, and contribute to other events as listed below.

Transformative Pathways for Climate Action through Open and Citizen Science and Youth Empowerment

This side event will explore how to harness scientific knowledge, cooperation, and capacity building for transformative action on climate change and the SDGs. It will discuss gaps and needs for accelerating action, and initiatives to enhance implementation that are rooted in scientific excellence, solidarity, and cooperation.

This side event will discuss the outcomes of the Third Global Conference on Strengthening Synergies between the Paris Agreement and the SDGs, focusing on the role of youth in decision-making on climate change and sustainability, and sharing good practices at the national and sub-national levels. It will engage experts from various sectors of sustainability from energy to forestry to discuss concrete actions toward strengthening synergies.

Beyond Classrooms: Education as a Mechanism for Community Climate Action
