UNU-FLORES congratulates Prof. Mukand Babel on his recognition as a top scholar by ScholarGPS, a platform that conducts global academic and institutional rankings. ScholarGPS identified five faculty members from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) among the top-ranked scholars in their respective fields, based on indicators including publications, citations, and h-index. These five faculty members are ranked among the top 0.05% globally in their respective specialties.
Prof. Babel is an Adjunct Professor at UNU-FLORES and a Full Professor at AIT in Thailand, where he also serves as Director of the Centre for Water and Climate Adaptation. He has worked closely with UNU-FLORES since 2021 as a key partner in the Global Water and Climate Adaptation Centre (ABCD). Prof. Babel, jointly with UNU-FLORES and Dresden University of Technology, has co-supervised several doctoral fellows under ABCD. He was also a key contributor to the Dresden Nexus Conference, where he co-convened the session “Water Resilience and Climate Adaptation: A Global Challenge” and organized a side event on measuring water security.
“We congratulate AIT on its ScholarGPS recognition. Our collaboration has deepened in recent years through academic exchange, including Dr. Azin Zarei’s one-month research stay at AIT. This institutional linkage is further demonstrated by Shashwat Sharma, an AIT master’s graduate now pursuing doctoral studies at UNU-FLORES,” noted Prof. Edeltraud Guenther, Director of UNU-FLORES.
