Dresden UN Day 2025 Countdown: Focusing on Education

This year’s United Nations Day coincides with the UN’s 80th anniversary and UNU’s 50th anniversary.

UNU-FLORES, together with partners, uses UN Day to engage the Dresden community on topics of both local and international relevance. Following last year’s focus on the economy, the 2025 theme is “Education Shapes the Future.”

As UN Day approaches, the Organizing Team reports that all preparations are ready for Friday. Registration for UN Day opened in September.

The event opens with a welcome by the First Mayor of Dresden, Jan Donhauser, followed by a keynote from Prof. Christian Lessmann (Dresden University of Technology, International Economics). A panel discussion featuring Henriette Greulich (Dresden University of Technology), Prof. Dr. Kamila Cygan-Rehm (Dresden University of Technology), Frank Boesenberg (Silicon Saxony), and Prof. Dr. Edeltraud Guenther (UNU-FLORES) will explore research and practical insights on education.

Partners include Dresden University of Technology, the City of Dresden, Local Agenda 21 Dresden, the Society for the United Nations Regional Association of Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt & Thuringia, and the Lions Club Dresden Agenda 21.
