On 13 and 14 May, Cetic.br celebrated its 20th anniversary with an international seminar in São Paulo, bringing together experts, government representatives, international organisations, academia, the private sector, and civil society. UNU-EGOV took part in the event, reinforcing its long-standing partnership with the Centre.
Under the theme “Cetic.br 20 years – Evidence for public policies in the digital environment”, the event looked back at two decades of progress in the digital agenda across Brazil and Latin America. Discussions focused on digital inclusion, meaningful connectivity, and the impact of digital transformation in areas such as the economy, public services, health, and education.
Director Delfina Soares joined the panel on Digital transformation in the public sector, where she shared insights on how the adoption of digital technologies is reshaping public service delivery and citizen-government interaction. The panel also explored future perspectives for advancing digital governance models that are more inclusive and accountable.
The seminar also looked ahead, offering a space to exchange experiences and debate the priorities for building inclusive and sustainable digital societies. Cetic.br, a UNESCO Category 2 Centre since 2012, continues to play an important role in producing data and evidence to support digital policy-making in Latin America and Lusophone Africa.
The Unit's participation shows the continued commitment to supporting evidence-based policymaking and advancing inclusive and accountable digital governance across the Global South.
