In this interview for the Global Governance Innovation Platform (GGI), recorded during the Global Governance Innovation Inception Workshop (16–17 January 2025), Daniel Esty discusses the challenge of governing problems that cross national borders. He argues that global trade rules could be used to strengthen accountability and ensure that countries and companies cannot gain a competitive advantage by failing to meet agreed sustainability standards.
