Claire Dennis is a Senior AI Policy Adviser (non-resident) at UNU-CPR, supporting research and initiatives related to international AI governance.
Claire is a researcher and public policy professional specializing in the intersection of advanced AI and global governance. She is currently a researcher at the Oxford Martin School AI Governance Initiative and the Centre for the Governance of AI, based in Oxford, UK. Her recent work has focused on building international scientific consensus on the risks from AI, as well as developing concrete mechanisms for global AI benefit sharing.
Previously, Claire served as a U.S. diplomat and strategic consultant in the UN Executive Office of the Secretary-General's Strategic Planning and Monitoring Unit (SPMU). She was also previously a journalist covering conflict and organised crime in Latin America.
She holds a Masters in Public Affairs from Princeton University and a B.A. in International Affairs and Spanish from George Washington University.
