Africa Redefining Critical Minerals for a Shared Future: South-South Solidarity in Action
As COP 30 approaches, the Global South is shifting to the centre of the global decarbonisation agenda through strategic South–South cooperation. Central to this transition is Africa's mineral transformation, which requires bridging severe knowledge deficits in resource governance. This report introduces the Critical Minerals Information and Knowledge Hub (C-MINK), a platform designed to translate scientific insight into strategic foresight and regional policy. C-MINK addresses critical knowledge gaps by interrogating the asymmetrical power dynamics, structural norms, and agency that dictate who sets the agenda for mineral exploitation. By convening policymakers, researchers, and investors, the initiative links African expertise with broader Global South networks. Ultimately, C-MINK serves as an evidence-based institutional compass, challenging traditional epistemic power structures to ensure Africa's critical mineral wealth is managed through collective intelligence, regional integration, and sustainable value-chain development.
