Antonella di Trapani is a Senior Research Fellow at UNU, with extensive experience in science policy and diplomacy, strategic research governance, and stakeholder engagement. 

 

Her career spans academia, industry, and international organisations, including the European Commission, the OECD, and the G20, where she has worked at the interface of research, policy, and global governance.

 

Previously, she served as Head of Nuclear Education and Knowledge Management at the OECD, leading the Secretariats of the Nuclear Education, Skills and Technology (NEST) Framework and the Global Forum on nuclear education, science, technology, and policy. Her work addresses the climate–energy–security nexus and the policy implications of emerging and disruptive technologies for the green transition and the SDGs. She has also advised the European Commission on science diplomacy and digital technologies and was awarded Science‑Policy‑Security Fellowships from Mercator Stiftung and the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (2024–2026).

 

Antonella has held leadership and advisory roles within European research and mobility networks, lectures on science and technology diplomacy, and regularly contributes to international policy dialogues as a speaker and expert. 

 

She holds a PhD in Chemistry, postgraduate training in science communication and international development, and is fluent in Italian, English, and French.
