Apply Now for 2021 UNU-IAS Master’s and Doctoral Programmes

UNU-IAS is now accepting applications for September 2021 admission to its two postgraduate degree programmes.

The UNU Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS) in Tokyo is now accepting applications for September 2021 admission to its two postgraduate degree programmes:

The aim of these postgraduate degree programmes to produce the policymakers and researchers of tomorrow, who will be at the forefront of global efforts towards a more sustainable future. UNU-IAS students benefit from the unique opportunity to study in central Tokyo, at a global university within the framework of the United Nations. Students gain both academic knowledge and practical research skills by actively contributing to the institute’s policy-oriented research areas.

Both programmes are intended for recent graduates, professionals, or practitioners aiming to pursue internationally focused careers through employment in UN agencies, other international organisations, governments, civil society, or the private sector. All lectures will be conducted in English.

Enrolled students will have the opportunity to obtain credits not only from UNU but from other leading universities in Japan, as UNU-IAS offers joint diploma programmes in cooperation with the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Frontier Science and with Sophia University.

The application deadline for the master's degree programmes is 12 March 2021. The application deadline for the doctoral degree programme is 9 April 2021.

Both programmes will start in September 2021; those who expect to receive the required qualifications before that time may apply.

For more information about these programmes, including application requirements and procedures, please visit the Degree Programmes section of the UNU-IAS website.
