Dr. Sergo Chikhladze is a Policy Research Fellow within the Gender Equality & Intersectionality team of UNU-IIGH.
Dr. Chikhladze is a public health specialist and policy researcher with over 15 years of international experience in global health policy, health equity, health systems strengthening and rights-based programming. His work focuses on advancing inclusive and evidence-informed health systems through policies on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), HIV, and COVID-19, integrating gender equality, intersectionality, and people-centered approaches across Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and the South Caucasus.
His background includes research, monitoring and evaluation, and policy analysis, applying participatory and equity-oriented methodologies. He has also led capacity building and knowledge-sharing activities with health professionals, civil society organizations, and government bodies to strengthen rights-based and gender-responsive health policies.
He holds an MD and a PhD in Medical Sciences and is an alumnus of the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship in Public Health Policy and Management at Tulane University.
