Celebrating 20 Years of UNU-IIGH

UNU‑IIGH marks 20 years of advancing equity in global health through research, partnerships, and action.

For two decades, the United Nations University International Institute for Global Health (UNU‑IIGH) has served as the UN’s dedicated think tank on global health, advancing research, dialogue, and action to shape fairer, more effective global health systems.

As we commemorate this milestone, we honour our long-standing commitment to generating knowledge and strengthening capacities for decision-making by Member states, UN and other multilateral agencies and civil society groups for sustainable development of global health and well-being.

UNU‑IIGH works to advance equitable, just and effective policies and practices  by interrogating power and gender asymmetries in global health governance and accountability, health systems and workforces, digital health governance and security, climate health emergencies, and just transitions.

Our 20th anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on this journey, celebrate the partnerships that have shaped our work, and reaffirm our commitment to a healthier, more equitable future.

To mark this milestone, UNU‑IIGH will be hosting 20 events across the year, one for each year of impact. These activities will bring together partners, practitioners, and communities from around the world to celebrate achievements, share insights, and explore the future of global health.

As we look ahead, UNU‑IIGH will continue to champion approaches that drive more inclusive and sustainable pathways for global health and well‑being.

Stay tuned for upcoming updates, events, and opportunities to engage throughout the year.
