Nadirah Mat Pozian is a PhD Fellow at UNU-IIGH. Nadirah is committed to growing evidence-based research that can be translated into improved practise for real-world benefits, particularly in, gender equity, policy, paid work participation and health. She is mixed-methods researcher with experience working in multidisciplinary settings (e.g., social work, public health, gender issues, policies, health).
Affiliated to the Queensland University of Technology Australia, Nadirah’s PhD research aims to investigate which and how 11 specific FFWCs (both availability and utilisation) is associated with paid work participation, physical health, and anxiety and depression among Malaysian women with young children, as well as explore which FFWCs have been documented in policy, and how they are interpreted in the context of gender concepts and welfare regimes. She is supervised by Associate Professor Yvette Miller (Queensland University of Technology, Australia) and Dr Jenni Mays (Queensland University of Technology, Australia).
Prior to joining UNU-IIGH as a PhD Fellow, Nadirah worked as Research Assistant with Dr Julie-Anne Carroll (look at accelerating detection and action in family violence cases: reflection on clinical responses). She also worked as a Sessional Academic in Queensland University of Technology, Australia in Population Health (social determinants that shapes the health of a vulnerable population) and Health Policy in a Global Context (policy-making theories and principles as well as the interplay of factors that influence policy development, implementation and evaluation).
