After 5 years working with the World Food Programme (both HQ and field locations) as a programme officer, Kim joined the UNU-EHS in 2023 to conduct applied research on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). Within the DRR continuum, Kim specialize in anticipatory action for climate shocks.
Kim is a Senior Research consultant for DRR within the Global Mountain Safeguard Research (GLOMOS) programme of the UNU-EHS.
Kim has worked in various humanitarian positions prior to joining the UNU, from capacity building, partnerships and emergency cash transfers. Since 2022, Kim's work has increasingly focused on Anticipatory Action, exploring how humanitarians, governments and communities can leverage climate data to protect households and their livelihoods from impending shocks. Kim is bilingual in French and English, which has enabled Kim to work in various locations across Africa, Europe and Asia. Beyond Anticipatory Action, Kim is interested in climate justice as well as Climate Change Adaptation programmes.
With UNU-EHS, Kim is involved in the regional projects "Assessing Early Warning Systems in four Indian Ocean States" (RDRM-IO) and "Strengthening the Network of Centres of Excellence for Disaster Risk Reduction in Africa" (NoE II), both led by UNDRR. Kim's role consists of project management, applied research and capacity building.
Kim holds a Masters in International Conflict Studies from King's College London UK, a BA in History from La Sorbonne, Paris and a BA in Communications & Media from the French Institute for Press, Paris.
