Visit of the Ambassador of Egypt to UNU-EGOV

Visit of the Egyptian Ambassador to Portugal to UNU-EGOV.

The Ambassador of Egypt to Portugal, His Excellency Wael Abu Bakr Al Naggar, visited the Operating Unit on Friday, 2 September 2022.

The visit of Wael Abu Bakr Al Naggar started at the Guimarães Municipality, where he was received by the Deputy Mayor, Adelina Pinto. During this meeting, several projects were presented that are currently underway in Guimarães, mostly focused on environmental sustainability, carbon neutrality, and new mobility concepts. Additionally, talks were had regarding the implementation of a sister town protocol between Guimarães and a city in Egypt. These talks will move forward in future meetings.

Afterwards, the ambassador visited UNU-EGOV, where a meeting with the Director, Delfina Soares, took place. The meeting mainly focused on future cooperation between the Operating Unit and Egypt, in line with last year's Capacity Building Programme for Egyptian officials. This training, which lasted several weeks and saw more than one hundred participants arrive in Guimarães, was done in conjunction with the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development of Egypt.
