UNU-EGOV explores how satellite data can advance digital transformation and SDG implementation in developing countries.

The United Nations World Space Forum 2024, held under the theme Sustainable Space for Sustainability on Earth, was organized by the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) in collaboration with Germany, Peru and the United Arab Emirates.

Saleem Zoughbi participated on behalf of UNU-EGOV, presenting the Operating Unit as a proactive international think tank focused on strategies, policies, and sustainable development. In bilateral meetings and during a discussion session, he emphasized that satellite space data is a crucial component of open data for sustainable development, enabling digital transformation projects to better support SDG implementation in developing countries. Preliminary discussions also explored future collaboration on workshops addressing satellite data as part of upcoming Digital Governance Forum activities.
