Enhancing Digital Transformation in Guinea-Bissau: UNU-EGOV's Mission Highlights

UNU-EGOV advanced Guinea-Bissau's digital transformation through ENTD.GW presentations and workshops with government and private sector leaders.

UNU-EGOV has been actively contributing to Guinea-Bissau’s journey toward digital transformation. Last week, Luís Soares Barbosa, Deputy Director of UNU-EGOV and Beatriz Lanza, Senior Associate Expert at the unit, visited Guinea-Bissau with the objective to advance the National Digital Transformation Strategy (ENTD.GW), a critical framework for fostering innovation and strengthening the nation’s governance and public service delivery.

Two key milestones of the mission:

  1. Preliminary Presentation of ENTD.GW
On November 27th, the preliminary version of the ENTD.GW was presented to representatives of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and key government officials. This session provided an opportunity to share insights on the strategy’s objectives, expected outcomes, and alignment with Guinea-Bissau’s developmental goals.
  2. Validation Workshop
On November 29th, a full-day workshop gathered approximately 70 participants, including representatives from various ministries, public administration institutions, and the private sector. This session aimed to validate the ENTD.GW and ensure alignment with stakeholders' perspectives and sectoral needs. Group discussions played a vital role in refining the strategy and fostering collaboration among diverse actors.

These activities highlight the importance of inclusive and participatory approaches in developing national strategies, ensuring they reflect the priorities and realities of all stakeholders.
