The United Nations University Operating Unit on Policy-Driven Electronic Governance (UNU-EGOV) is proud to announce the inauguration of the photography exhibition titled “Por dentro da UNU-EGOV | Beyond Walls” by Leonor Carneiro. The exhibition took place last Friday, 23rd February, at 5:00 PM, in the cloisters of Guimarães Town Hall. This event is a significant part of the celebrations marking UNU-EGOV’s 10th anniversary.
Through the lens of photographer Leonor Lapa Carneiro, this captivating exhibition invites you to explore the inner workings of UNU-EGOV. It provides a visual journey that goes beyond the surface, offering a deeper and more personal understanding of the unit’s operation.
Sixteen carefully selected images reveal what lies behind UNU-EGOV’s impactful projects and innovative endeavors. As we celebrate a decade of excellence, this exhibition also pays tribute to the unwavering dedication of those who have made it all possible.
From the architectural marvels of our inspiring building to the dynamic working environments, each image narrates a unique story—a precise moment when restlessness and determination propelled progress on a global scale.
Leonor Lapa Carneiro, born in 1967 in Barcelos, spent her formative years between Lisbon and Porto before settling in Braga, where she has resided since 1986. As a laboratory technician in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (DEM) at the School of Engineering, University of Minho (UMinho), she skillfully balances her life between laboratory work and her passion for photography.
Leonor holds a degree in Geography and Planning and acquired her first camera in 2001. Since then, she has honed photography as a powerful artistic expression, amassing an extensive collection of captivating images.
Professionally, Leonor has dedicated herself to documenting events at the DEM and the School of Engineering—a commitment she continues to uphold today.
This marks her second solo public exhibition, following the success of “Irreflexos”, which was part of UMinho’s 50th anniversary celebrations.
Several events and initiatives are planned as part of the “10 Years of EGOV: 2014-2024” Celebrations Programme, the highlight of which is scheduled for May 23rd, 2024, with a formal ceremony marking precisely a decade since the first agreements were signed.
