Aymen Boudebouz has been a Research Associate at UNU-EGOV since 2022.

Aymen Boudebouz is a research associate at UNU-EGOV, with a primary focus on digital government and social innovation in the realms of public administration, urban governance and smart cities. His expertise is in facilitating community engagement and decision-making processes through digital governance and e-participation.


In his role at UNU-EGOV, Aymen is actively involved in projects centring on digital transformation in urban environments. He works collaboratively with professionals, academics, and government officials from various countries, contributing to developing and implementing effective governance strategies and methodologies.


He founded a digital engagement platform that employs blockchain and virtual reality technologies. This platform is designed to enhance citizen involvement in urban planning, demonstrating his commitment to using technology for community engagement and decentralised participation.


With a background in urban planning, Aymen has contributed significantly to developing national planning strategies and managing large-scale urban projects. His expertise in spatial planning has been integral to his success in these roles.
Aymen holds a Ph.D. in Spatial Planning from the Universities of Porto and Coimbra. His six-year tenure as a researcher at the CITTA Research Centre has been marked by a focus on urban governance, community development, and evaluating deliberative processes in urban contexts.
