Madeleine Hamel is a Research Associate at the United Nations University Centre for Policy Research (UNU-CPR) and is based in Geneva. 

Madeleine's research covers science and technology, strategic foresight, multilateral governance and addressing emerging global challenges. Prior to joining UNU-CPR, she served as a Senior Policy Officer at the Swiss National Open Research Data Strategy Council, where she led initiatives on research security, EU policy integration and the development of data infrastructures. 

She has also worked with the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs, advancing inclusive science policies, and with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, where she contributed to global humanitarian policy and communication efforts. With extensive experience in policy-relevant research, Madeleine has coordinated studies on democracy, technology and security at the think tank Fondation pour l’innovation politique. 

Madeleine holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Geneva.
