Farhan Octryan Saragih is Research Assistant (Intern) at the United Nations University Centre for Policy Research.
Farhan Octryan Saragih is a Master of Public Administration candidate at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, specializing in Human Rights and Humanitarian Policy with a focus on International Conflict Resolution. At UNU-CPR, he contributes to research initiatives that support multilateral innovation in global governance.
Farhan is a career diplomat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, where he has led policy work on international peace and security and represented Indonesia in over a dozen multilateral forums, including the UN Peacekeeping Ministerial, the Biological Weapons Convention Review Conference, and ASEAN initiatives on Women, Peace and Security. He also served on the ASEAN Special Envoy team for the conflict resolution process in Myanmar and led the Ministry’s Gender Mainstreaming Task Force.
His prior experience includes consular work at the Indonesian Consulate General in Malaysia and managing logistics for high-level events such as the 43rd ASEAN Summit and the UN Committee on Decolonization Regional Seminar.
Farhan holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Universitas Pembangunan Nasional "Veteran" Yogyakarta and is pursuing his Master of Public Administration at Columbia University. He is passionate about inclusive diplomacy, gender-responsive governance, and sustainable peacebuilding in global affairs.
