Erik Engberg is a Senior Researcher at the United Nations University Centre for Policy Research (UNU-CPR), where his work focuses on multilateralism, global governance, UN reform and institutional effectiveness.
Prior to joining UNU-CPR, he served as a Policy Advisor at the Multilateral Organisation Performance Assessment Network (MOPAN), where he led institutional assessments of United Nations organisations. He also conducted cross-cutting research on the performance and reform of the multilateral system.
Previously, Erik worked at the Dag Hammarskjöld Foundation, where he led the programme on United Nations financing and conducted research on UN reform and the Funding Compact.
Erik has held several positions within the United Nations, including as Strategic Planning Officer with UNMAS in New York and Special Assistant to the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General/Resident Coordinator/Humanitarian Coordinator in Haiti. He has also worked with UNOPS in New York and Ethiopia and with UNDP in New York.
Erik holds a master’s degree in international relations and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Uppsala University.
