Eneko Mauritz is a Carlo Schmid Fellow and is currently completing an International Master's in Economy, State and Society, a joint programme offered by University College London and Jagiellonian University.
His master's thesis examines how the Second Polish Republic governed its eastern borderlands through local state institutions and cultural policy. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Archaeology from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and complemented his studies with an exchange year at Boğaziçi University in Istanbul.
Prior to joining UNU-CPR, Eneko gained research and policy experience at the German Federal Foreign Office and the Orient-Institut Istanbul. Most recently, he worked as a political journalist at the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, where he covered foreign affairs and security policy.
His research interests include border governance, international security, and geopolitical developments, particularly in Eastern Europe. In addition to his native German, he is fluent in English and Spanish and has working knowledge of Polish, Russian, and Ukrainian.
