Devika Manish Kumar is a Global Fellow with UNU-CPR’s Conflict Prevention and Sustaining Peace Pillar.

Devika supports research on the General Assembly’s engagement with peace and security issues.

Devika received a Master of Science in Global Governance and Diplomacy from the University of Oxford. Her dissertation researched "zones of peace", a type of non-binding international agreement, and investigated what impacts these agreements have had on norm creation and relations between signatories.

She most recently worked at International Crisis Group to coordinate the organization’s advocacy for the 80th United Nations General Assembly High-level Week. She previously interned with the United Nations Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, where she conducted research and analysis on political and security developments in the Northeast Asia and Pacific region, as well as International Crisis Group, where she supported the organization’s advocacy efforts on agenda items of the United Nations Security Council.

In addition to her current work, her other research interests include the history of international organizations and monitoring the workings of other parts of the UN system, such as the specialized agencies, and their evolving role in global governance. She received a bachelor’s degree in engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and previously worked in the energy sector.
