Dr. Adam McCauley is a Senior Fellow (non-resident) at the United Nations University Centre for Policy Research (UNU-CPR) where he supports the Centre’s Global Governance Innovation Platform.
Dr. McCauley is a journalist, academic and policy advisor. He is currently a Senior Policy Advisor at the Department of National Defence in Canada where he conducts research and analysis on a range of security issues. His current research explores the implications of Artificial Intelligence on military and political decision-making.
Dr. McCauley is also a Visiting Professor at the University of Ottawa’s Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, where he lectures on international security, emerging technology and military/defense policy.
Previously, he was a lecturer at both the University of Oxford and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, where he taught across a range of subjects including international relations, international security and conflict, and political philosophy.
Dr. McCauley co-founded the Oxford Policy Dialogue to facilitate knowledge exchange between scholars of international security and government agencies in 2016. He also continues to publish widely in international media, including The New York Times, The Atlantic and TIME Magazine.
He completed his BA in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Toronto; MSc in Journalism from Columbia University; and MPhil and DPhil in International Relations from the University of Oxford.
