The 2021 Visiting PhD Fellowship Programme at the UNU World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER) will take place online. The programme gives registered doctoral students the opportunity to utilise the resources and knowledge available within UNU-WIDER to support their PhD dissertation or thesis research on developing economies and to work with our researchers in areas of mutual interest.
The three-month online visiting PhD fellowship will take place online from September–November 2021. During the programme selected candidates will engage with other PhD fellows and UNU-WIDER researchers to develop their research with the aim to prepare one or more research papers and present an online seminar on their research findings. The PhD fellows may also have the opportunity to publish their research in the WIDER Working Paper Series.
Applicants must be enrolled in a PhD programme and have demonstrated ability to conduct research on developing economies. Candidates working in other social sciences may apply but should keep in mind that UNU-WIDER is an economics-focused institute. Candidates should be fluent in oral and written English and possess good quantitative and/or qualitative analytical skills. Applications from suitably qualified early-career, female, and developing country researchers are particularly encouraged.
