Yemi Katerere has global experience in forest research and management, policy and development, renewable energy, climate change and biodiversity and the role of local communities in managing biodiversity for ecosystem services and livelihoods.
Dr. Katerere has worked in executive positions in state enterprises, national and international NGOs and the United Nations. He has also supported organizations with change management and strategic planning. He is currently focusing on biodiversity and climate change issues in Africa and globally related to sustainable and resilient development of people and nature. He also coordinates an Alliance of African CSO that are focused on biodiversity and climate change issues. Prior to that he was looking on the impacts of physical infrastructure on biodiversity and ecosystem integrity. He is a recent Fellow of the Rights and Resources Institute based in Washington DC. He was a recipient of the Queen's award for outstanding contribution to forestry development in Zimbabwe with contribution to forestry in the Commonwealth. He is currently an independent environmental expert and executive chair of Manicaland Bioenergy Private Limited. He has previously chaired the World Agroforestry Board and served as a non- executive director of the Wattle Company of Zimbabwe as well as the Centre for International Forestry Research, UN-REDD Program and WWF Africa Program.
