Kikuko Shoyama is a Research Associate, working on the project “Enhancing Resilience to Climate and Ecosystem Changes in Semi-Arid Africa: An Integrated Approach (CECAR-Africa)” and Ecosystem Services Research. She received her PhD in Environmental Science with a specialty in Forest Ecology from Hokkaido University, Japan. Prior to joining UNU-IAS, she was engaged in research activities as a Researcher at the National Institute for Environmental Studies. She also contributed to Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) as a lead author. Her research interests include understanding of socio-ecological systems related to landscape change, and public preference and perception of benefits from ecosystem services.
