Prof. Vishnu Prasad Pandey is a Professor at Department of Civil Engineering and Director at Center for Applied Research and Development (CARD), with Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University, Nepal.
Prof. Vishnu Prasad Pandey is currently as Professor of Water Resources with Department of Civil Engineering, Pulchowk Campus, Institute of Engineering (IoE), Tribhuvan University, Nepal. He played a leading role in establishing the Center for Water Resources Studies (CWRS) at IoE and co-lead it until Feb 2025, before taking a new role as Director of Center for Applied Research and Development (CARD) at IoE. He has over 2 decades of professional and research experience in water sector of Nepal and beyond.
Before joining the University, he was with International Water Management Institute (IWMI) as “Water & Climate Specialist”. He has been involved in various types of research projects related to various aspects of water. There are over 100 publications in international Journal to his credit. He is continually engaged in capacity building, and contributing in government policies and program design. He has experience of providing expert service on water-related issues to many international agencies such as the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, United Nations University, Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Institute of Global Environmental Strategies, among others.
Prof. Pandey is a recipient of various awards and recognitions including Young Scientist Award from Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) in 2018. He also served as a Governing Board Member of Nepal Engineering Council (NEC), and a Member of “Engineering Cluster” of University Grants Commission of Nepal. He is also a member of Academic Council of Tribhuvan University. He is active with professional societies and also serving as Editor-in-Chief of “Journal of Hydrology: Regional Studies” an international journal published by Elsevier.
Prof. Pandey completed Bachelor in Civil Engineering from IOE Pulchowk Campus (Nepal), M. Eng. (Water Engineering and Management) from Asian Institute of Technology (AIT, Thailand), and PhD in Integrated River Basin Management from University of Yamanashi (Japan).
