Jairo Guzman is a Doctoral Researcher in the Joint PhD Programme in Integrated Management of Water, Soil, and Waste between Technische Universität Dresden and UNU-FLORES.
Previously, he was an academic intern and consultant for the SMART-WaterDomain project at UNU-FLORES, providing technical research based on geographic information systems (GIS), and implementing research projects in Colombia. His previous work experience in Colombia includes multiple projects on environmental conservation, economic growth, and peacebuilding in the Amazon basin from 2006 to 2015. In cooperation with the UN Security Council, he served as a senior instructor, for the Colombian peacebuilding operations during the peace agreement with the Farc in 2016.
Currently, his research is focused on supporting the national government to foster climate-smart agriculture systems, and the promotion of sustainable urban and peri-urban agriculture to boost socioeconomic development through the Resource Nexus.
