UNU-EGOV contributes to Arab Innovation Assessment

UNU-EGOV contributed to UN ESCWA’s ENACT report, offering expert insights on digital innovation in Arab public administration.

UN ESCWA invited UNU-EGOV to contribute to the assessment of a report it developed, titled ENACT, which examined the efforts of Arab governments in deploying emerging technologies and adopting innovative practices. Saleem Zoughbi, Senior Research Consultant, was invited to attend and represent UNU-EGOV. He reviewed the final report, provided comments and recommendations and delivered a keynote speech on the strategic direction of Arab governance in this area.

During the Meeting on Technology and Innovation for Arab Public Institutions, organized by UN ESCWA in Amman (and online) on 28-29 February 2024, he addressed the theme “Digital Evolution of the Future Arab Public Administration”. His intervention included concrete and actionable recommendations to sustain the project’s outcomes, with a particular focus on Data Collaboration across Agencies, Cyber-Physical Systems for Public Infrastructure, and the use of Smart Contracts in Public Procurement. A thorough discussion followed his presentation.
