Senior Research Fellow of United Nations University International Institute for Software Technology

Tomasz Janowski is the founding Head of the United Nations University Operating Unit on Policy-Driven Electronic Governance (UNU-EGOV), a new United Nations organization based on Portugal and focused on Digital Government research, policy and leadership education. He is also Invited Full Professor at the University of Minho; founder and coordinator of the International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance (ICEGOV), a leading conference in the area; and Co-Editor-in-Chief of Government Information Quarterly, a leading journal in the area. He conducts and directs research focused on the impact of Digital Government on public policy and development, translates research findings into policy tools and insights, and consults for many international organizations and governments in this area. In his 20 years UN career, he lectured and organized activities in 52 countries, and conducted many projects with funding from the Commonwealth Secretariat, European Commission, IDRC, Macao Foundation, Microsoft, OSCE, UNDP, UNESCO, World Bank and several national governments. He holds PhD in Computer Science from the University of Warwick, UK, and MSc in Applied Mathematics from the University of Gdańsk, Poland.
