Salma comes from the Sultanate of Oman and has 15 years experience working in government in the field of Information Technology and Business. She is currently working for the Information Technology Authority of Oman and is also a Government Fellow at UNU-EGOV. She holds the position of Director of e-Transformation Project Management Office. Salma holds a Master’s degree in Project Management, with specialization in Leadership, and is a certified project management professional (PMP). Salma has worked in different national projects, including the UN eGovernment and Oman Government Alignment Program. In this project, she defined a program to align the government initiatives to the UN eGovernment best practices and defined assessment dashboards to report the alignment level of the government entities to decision makers. The main topics of the project were open data, e-Participation, digital government policies, and smart initiatives. Also, she worked on how ICT initiatives can support in meeting the SDGs. Salma also took part in the Invest Easy Program, the one stop shop for business registration, where she acted as project manager. The project is currently a show case and best practice reference for transformation projects in the region. It is recognised by UNCTAD as the best initiative providing single window for business information and is also recognised by WSIS.
