Marco has been an Adjunct Assistant Professor at UNU-EGOV since 2024 and an Assistant Professor at the University of Minho.

He is also an Assistant Professor at the School of Economics and Management of the University of Minho, Adjunct Director at the Research Center of Political Science (CICP) and Invited Professor at Goias Federal University (UFG).

Marco worked at DRCLAS project linked to health system resilience, at PHSSR initiative at London School of Economics, at SIMAPES project connected with the Ministry of Health in Brazil, and different small projects. Marco also worked on projects linked to the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), World Bank, and others.

Marco was a visiting scholar at Università degli Studi di Roma Tor Vergata (Italy) and Indiana University (USA), Research Fellow at David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies (DRCLAS - Brazil), Harvard University (USA), Researcher at London School of Economics (LSE - PHSSR initiative), Assistant Researcher at ISCTE (Portugal), at the project “Brazilian Education in Health Mapping System” (Ministry of Health - Brazil), and Lecturer and General Coordinator at Business School Unoeste.

Marco holds a Post-Doctoral degree in Public Administration and Government from the São Paulo School of Business Administration of the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV EAESP), a Post-Doctoral degree in Health Economics from NOVA School of Business and Economics, a Ph.D. and Master's in Administration of Organizations from the University of São Paulo, and a Bachelor's in Public Administration from São Paulo State University.
