On 1 March 2024, the United Nations University and the xSDG Laboratory of Keio University will co-host the symposium “Accelerating Transformative Actions: The Role of the Private Sector in Sustainable Development”.

This symposium will delve into the outcomes of the 2023 SDG Summit and the insights provided by the Global Sustainable Development Report (GSDR) 2023, exploring how business leaders can translate these findings into tangible, impactful actions. The GSDR serves as a crucial guide for businesses, governments and society on the transformative actions required to achieve the Global Goals by 2030.

Tshilidzi Marwala, Rector of the United Nations University, will deliver an address on artificial intelligence and its impact on sustainable development.

Norichika Kanie, Professor, Graduate School of Media and Governance, Keio University, Director of the xSDG Laboratory, and one of the fifteen independent scientists who co-authored the 2023 GSDR, will deliver a keynote lecture to shed light on how transformative societal shifts can not only be realized, but are also imperative for achieving the SDGs.

This will be followed by a panel discussion with prominent business leaders in Japan to examine the strategies, innovations and partnerships that have emerged to bridge the gap between business objectives and the SDGs.

This event will be held in English and Japanese with simultaneous interpretation of each language. Advance registration (by 29 February) is required. Please click on the REGISTER button above to access the online registration page.
