There is a noticeable challenge in connecting the Resource Nexus to information-poor environments, communities and individuals; this may affect decision-making. An improved access to disaggregate data, informatics and analytical tools, as well as the creation of robust monitoring frameworks, can inform decision making, increase transparency, raise community awareness and facilitate progress monitoring and evaluation.
The overarching objective of this theme is to provide stakeholders – including academics (science level), decision-makers (policy and practice level) and citizens (societal level) – with the necessary information and evidence base to promote Resource Nexus thinking in problem-solving, planning and decision making.
UNU-FLORES shall develop, launch and internationally promote a new research programme in Resource Nexus AID (Analytics, Informatics and Data). This programme will become an international gateway to the data, information, and analytical tools that can enable the Resource Nexus to sustainable development and the fulfilment of the SDGs, through an interactive collaboration between scientists, policymakers, businesses and citizens.
