Workinesh Takele Tessema is part of the Joint PhD Programme of UNU-FLORES and TU Dresden.
Workinesh began her academic career as a Graduate Assistant at Hawassa University and has since held various academic and administrative positions. Most recently, she served as Head of the Natural Resources Management Department and as a Lecturer. Over the years, she has actively participated in different research projects. In addition to her academic roles, she worked as a Hydrological Consultant on a restoration project implemented by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) in collaboration with Hawassa University. She also completed an internship at the Eastern Nile Technical Regional Office (ENTRO), where she contributed on the Eastern Nile Water Resources Assessment and Situation Analysis.
In 2023, she had the opportunity to participate in the UNEP/UNESCO/BMUV fellowship program at CIPSEM, where she gained valuable insights on environmental management, circular economy, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable development. This experience motivates her to pursue advanced research.
