Luisa is a Doctoral Researcher in the Joint PhD Programme in Integrated Management of Water, Soil, and Waste between Technische Universität Dresden and UNU-FLORES.
She is working on the topic “Managing a Just Transition to Electric Mobility – A Resource Nexus Approach to End-of-Life Vehicles in the Global South”. The research focus is on health and environmental impacts of treatment and final disposal of batteries of used electrical vehicles in countries of the Global South. Before joining UNU-FLORES, Luisa worked as Director of Urban Waste and Pluvial Drainage in the State Secretariat of the Environmental and Sustainable Development of Minas Gerais. Her expertise lies in the mechanical-biological treatment of municipal solid waste, and she strives to support the development of sustainable integrated solid waste management strategies and policies to contribute to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
