Johannes is coordinating sustainability related research and partnership activities for UNU-FLORES.  

Johannes Cullmann is a German water scientist. He has worked in development cooperation and research in Brazil and Chile and for German universities. His early career was focused on hydrological modelling and flood forecasting. Later he was responsible for international water cooperation for the German Federal Institute for Hydrology. He has supported various international commissions for transboundary water cooperation and presided UNESCO´s water program from 2012 to 2014. From 2015 to 2022, Johannes served as the Senior Director for Water and Climate at the World Meteorological Organization in Geneva. In 2022 and 2023, Johannes supported the President of the UN General Assembly as Chief Scientist in New York and was Vice-Chair of UN-Water. Since 2024, Johannes works for the German Federal Water Agency, the Institute for Water Education in Delft, the Netherlands, and the United Nations University in Dresden, Germany.
