On 23 May 2023, UNU will host “Global Health and Human Rights in the Post-pandemic World”, a BIG IDEAS Dialogue with Rajat Khosla, Director of the UNU International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH). This event will be held via Zoom webinar at 18:30 JST (UTC+9).

It has recently been written that “pandemics have forced humans to break with the past and imagine their world anew.” As the discussions grow for a post-pandemic world, how can we seize this opportunity to create something anew — something which addresses the injustices that the pandemic exposed?

Mr Khosla will join UNU Senior Vice-Rector Sawako Shirahase to explore some of the recent lessons for the field of global health and the role human rights can play in reimagining health. The discussion will explore opportunities and challenges as we embark on this journey, while also touching on the work of UNU-IIGH to generate policy-relevant analysis on addressing gender inequality in health.

Please note this event will be in English; Japanese interpretation will not be provided. Advance registration by 22 May is required. Registrants will receive an email on the day of the event with a link to attend via Zoom webinar.

About the series

The BIG IDEAS: SDGs Dialogue Series introduces the people, projects, and organisations behind shared efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Each event features leading representatives and researchers from international organisations, UN agencies, and UNU institutes to stimulate discussion on sustainable development issues and initiatives. The events provide a unique opportunity for young researchers, graduate students, and civil society to become more familiar with SDG-related topics, ask questions, and learn how they can contribute to local and global SDG progress.
