UNU‑FLORES announces the appointment of H.R.H. Princess Abze Djigma as an Executive Advisor. The affiliation underscores UNU‑FLORES’ commitment to engaging with practitioners whose experience supports the Institute’s research and outreach-related activities.
Role at UNU-FLORES
In her advisory capacity, H.R.H. Princess Abze Djigma will provide strategic input related to UNU‑FLORES focus areas, particularly where policy processes, climate action, and community‑level perspectives intersect. In this role, she will support knowledge exchange, awareness raising, and dialogue relevant to the Institute’s mandate.
Background and Experience
H.R.H. Princess Abze Djigma is a Mossi Princess from Burkina Faso and a recognised representative of traditional authorities in Africa. She brings over 30 years of experience in rural development, community engagement, and cooperation with the United Nations and international partners. She is the initiator of the MAMA‑LIGHT® Initiative for Sustainable Energy, which was recognised by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015 as one of fourteen breakthrough solutions contributing to the SDGs.
Her experience includes long‑term involvement in climate‑related policy processes, including international negotiations and conferences, as well as engagement across public, private, and civil society actors. She is also active in mentoring and dialogue initiatives that bring together decision makers, youth, and grassroots representatives. H.R.H. Princess Abze Djigma holds an honorary doctorate from Okayama University, Japan, and has provided relevant educational documentation to UNU‑FLORES.
